All’s well in Monstadt isn’t it? Birds chirping gleefully, children running with echoes of laughter, adults sitting around and sharing cups of tea and their stories, the-

“Guards! Get him to the medbay now!”

Ah, all’s well is it? Your day out on the balcony of your shared home with Kaeya had just been interupted. You peer down from the ledge, curious about the commotion. Someone was injured, but who?

You see the frantic running of guards and the horrified faces of the people, then you see Diluc looking around a little flustered and shocked; he was looking for you but you didn’t know that. Kaeya was nowhere to be found, or at least nowhere near Diluc, which would have made sense because he went out on a mission with him to-

Oh.

It hit you quick and hard. Kaeya was the injured.

Your heart plunges and you scramble your way down to the town square, bumping into a few frenzied bodies here and there. “Kaeya!” You basically scream, worried he might be badly injured. Diluc’s head snaps in the direction of your voice, high pitched and scared. He runs over, landing two hands on your shoulders. “Y/N, look at me.” He orders as you try to wiggle out of his grip, Kaeya was the only thing on your mind right now.

“Y/N!” The red haired latter raises his voice, you stop and stare up at him; his crimson eyes staring at you stradily, there was no way you could read whatever happened to Kaeya through them. “Kaeya’s injured I know you know that, but you ought to come with me; I think it would be better.” He says, your bottom lip quivers in response. Diluc would hug you, but he knows that’s not his character.

“T…take me to him please, I want to see him.” You squeak out, shaking your head profusely. Diluc doesn’t say anything and only stiffens, you look up at him with such pleading eyes there was no way he could day no; but he had to anyway. With a shake of his head, he sighs. His mouth opens to say something, but you’d alrdy used your anemo vision and pushed him away at least a good few metres.

You waste no time in running off in the direction of the medbay where you slam the doors open to see a bleeding Kaeya lain on a bed, eyes (or rather eye) shut in pain as his hands grip onto anything nearby tightly.

“K…Kaeya.” Your voice is barely audible, but amidst the chaos, the said boy manages to hear it. “Y/N,” he exhales in somewhat relief, glancing over at you. He knows you and Barbara are like sisters, and he knows you know how to heal him and his wounds; so he’s not worried about dying on the bed at all.

Not a moment later, Diluc stumbles into the room with soft pants, hair just a tad bit messed up. “G…God Diluc,” Kaeya lets out a pained chuckle as one of the doctors press the cloth harder to his wound, “I told you t…to keep her a…away didn’t I?”

Diluc grumbles in response, “She’s a lot stronger than you think.”

“Stab wound to the abdomen Ms. Y/N, Barbara’s not here to help today.” Another Doctor announces to you, but Diluc is quick to reply. “She’s not here on duty,” but Kaeya interrupts.

“Y/N can do it,” He says shakily, gripling harder onto the bedsheets. You and Diluc both look at the latter in shock, “She c…can do it, I…I know she can.” A groan falls from his lips, you flinch but step closer. “Kaeya I-“ he cuts you off,

“I know you can Y/N, Barbara’s said so too.” He says, his Azure eyes meet yours steadily. You nod this time, inhaling deeply to calm your nerves. “Kaeya, I’m gonna need to tear your shirt.” You say, staring at the amount of blood flowing from the wound despite being covered by a cloth. “No one’s stopping you,” Kaeya laughs weakly this time.

You grumble in response, tearing the material of the blue haired’s shirt. “I can’t believd you’re still laughing even though you’re literally bleeding to death,” You mutter, applying more pressure to his wound. “Not with you I won’t,” Kaeya breathes harsher, trying his best to endure the pain. You snap your head to the left, “get him some painkillers, he’ll die of pain instead of lack of blood at this rate.” You order, Kaeya snorts.

“I’m not that weak Y/N,”

Diluc snorts this time, so do you. “shut up before I knock you out with my fist.” Diluc growls, but this only makes Kaeya laugh once again. You don’t understand how one can laugh on the verge of death, but then again Kaeya will always be Kaeya.

You’d spent a good few hours on Kaeya’s stab wound, mind you he was laughing every now and then the first hour and you finally decided to put him out with a heavier dosage.

When you’ve finish, Diluc gives you a small but approving nod and the doctors let you stay until Kaeya wakes up.

Your boyfriend stirs awake a few hours later, meeting the sight of you sitting beside his head, small hand curled around his large one. “You’re awake thank god,” you sigh, leaning down to press a kiss on hus forehead. A smile graces Kaeya’s lips at your action, squeezing your hand tighter. “Yeah well, who decided to knock me out with a heavy dose of drugs?” He tilts his head, “only because you couldn’t stop laughing.” You reply, handing him a cup of water to drink.

Silence ensues the both of you as Kaeya practically gulps down the cup of water, having not drank any liquids in the past few hours.

“What happened?” You ask, “you never get injured this badly.” Kaeya chuckles softly, pushing himself up, wincing in pain ever so slightly. “Don’t rip your stitches,” you warn, he only waves you off.

“We were attacked, by one of those treasure hoarders in Liyue. Diluc was busy fighting like four other guys when I pushed one of the big ones of rhe cliff, but I turned around and saw another sneaking up on him. You know, I ran over to help and ended up getting stabbed.” Kaeya narrates, rubbing circles over the skin of your palm. You hum in response, sitting next to him.

Kaeya frowns this time, a sudden thought running through his mind. “Why do you let me do this if you’re so worried about me?” He looks at you, seriousness in his eyes; a look you rarely see. You look back at him, an eventual small smile tainting your lips. “Because I love you Kaeya, and you know I wouldn’t want you to stop doing something that makes you, you.” You answer, leaning your head on his shoulder.

Kaeya squeezes your hand once again, his heart swelling with love. “You’re too good to me you know that?” He mumbles, you pull away to look at him shyly. “Words like that coming from the cavalry caption who helps protect Monstadt? I think I should be saying it to you instead.” You answer, Kaeya’s hand goes up to cup your cheek softly; thumb running over your skin with love. “And yet, you’re the one saving me from an almost death.” He murmurs, resting his forehead against yours.

A smile makes it’s way to your lips and you feel your cheeks heat up. Kaeya’s not one to take things seriously but when it came to you, he always knew how to make you feel like you were the only thing that mattered in his life.

Kaeya leans down, his slightly chapped lips pressing against yours for a few seconds, molding perfectly together as if they were really just made for each other. You pull away moments later, Kaeya trying to chase after your lips to which he failed; a soft whine dying down his throat at that. “I love you,” You say,

“I love you too, Y/N.” He nods, leaning away with a glint in his eyes of which you couldn’t make out. “But you seriously didn’t have to put such a heavy dose on me,” he shrugs.

You snort in response, pushing Kaeya’s face away. “Yeah and you’d be screaming when I stitched you up,” you roll your eyes, “I still can’t understand how you were laughing when you could have died there.”

Kaeya chuckles, he just can’t stop laughing huh?

“Because I know you wouldn’t let me die like that, besides, you’re good at what you do.” He places a finger to his chin in thought, genuinely speaking the truth. “Flattering Kaeya, but thank you.” You smile, “just don’t go flinging yourself in front of every enemy you see because of this.” You warn,

Kaeya just laughs.
