I'm afraid you aren’t in this for the long haul, and you will leave. I really like you, and I think you could be my best friend. But I’m scared.” You watched her for a moment, her drunken confession out in the air and her fingers anxiously scratching at her painted nails. You put your fingers on her face, and promised, “I’m in this for the long haul. I won’t leave.” She tiled her face up at you, searching for any sign of a lie in your expression and came up empty. Her eyes soften, and she wraps her arms around you. You hold her in your arms, lean your head over hers, and take a deep breathe, knowing that you would do anything to keep her with you. You would do anything to be her best friend.
