Upon seeing you enter the room quivering and teary-eyed, Xingqiu immediately puts down his book.
“What has happened, my flower?” He asks, his surprise and concern made even more obvious by the faint quiver in his voice.
“I-I had nightmare, Xingqiu.” You manage, obviously still bothered by what had happened.
Quickly, he draws closer to you, pulling you into a hug while giving you a chaste kiss on the cheek.
“Come, I’ll grab us some hot chocolate.” After getting you situated on the couch, he goes to make to make the chocolate, albeit quickly, as he didn’t wish to leave you alone in that state for long.
Finally, he returns, two cups of steaming chocolate in hand.
“Do you want to speak of it, my flower?” He asks, running his fingers through your hair comfortingly. You shake your head profusely and he nods in understanding before grabbing the book that had been sitting on the nearby table.
“Then how about a good book to get your mind off things?” He asks, and you nod with the tiniest of smiles. He wraps himself around you before beginning to read aloud. His voice passionate as he reads, as if enthralled by each word.
