ok hear me out like imagine an au where everything is the same hOWEVER xiao loves to eat almond tofu because it reminds him of either the reader or someone else other than the fact that it gives him sweet dream vibes. he just wants to have sweet dreams of them instead of having nightmares of them dying in front of him.
extra: reader/someone else was the reason why he started eating it. annndd if you want more angsty, he accidentally killed them so that makes the nightmares worse.
