saw a comic of Childe wondering how different would his life be if he made the right choices
this left me thinking
he is not where he is now by choice, is he?

he didn’t choose to fall into the Abyss and he didn’t choose to join the Fatui
(he did choose to be a blood knight, but again, it’s may not be much of a choice)

he did choose to join the Harbingers and he does serve the Tsaritsa willingly, but if he ever disagrees the the only way he can leave is probably in a coffin. and likely with dire consequences for his family.

he acts like he is this unstoppable force of nature but if you look at him closely he actually has very little control over his own life. he just gets thrown into things.

I wonder if him always keeping promises is his attempt of retaining a shred of agency.
