summary: Their encounter with the Unknown God left them falling in Teyvat at the same time but in different place. Lumine, still trapped inside a mysterious cube, landed somewhere at the shore of the city of contract while Aether, exhausted and weak, woke up in the beach near the city of freedom.
lumine’s side
- There’s no Abyss princess/prince, but Lumine should be technically them so she somehow sympathize with the Abyss enemies more than anyone.
- Dainsleif is the one who broke her free from the cube and suggest to travel with her because…
- Lumine can’t remember anything! The first thing she knows is that Dainsleif broke her free from the darkness but she does have feeling of longing for someone (Aether). She just doesn’t know who.
- She lands in Liyue and kinda just messes with the story arc here. And no, despite being just one nation away, the twins haven’t seen each other yet.
- yeah, I know, plot hole but listen, Lumine can’t possible meet every Liyue character (particularly, Xiangling who goes to Mondstadt) and she doesn’t remember so let’s just say that they won’t meet until like the story arcs done.
- Liyue story is slightly different from the canon one because this is happening at the same time as the Mondstadt story. For one thing, Lumine isn’t suspected to be involved with their archon’s death.
- Lumine can’t cook and doesn’t know most things, just really a utter mess but she’s a ball of sunshine and innocence. She wants to help everyone and just gets excited about everything. But she also can’t control her powers well and doesn’t like fighting as much.
- Dainsleif doesn’t know how his solo mission of avenging his kingdom suddenly turns into a joyful journey with a traveler like Lumine, all with the saving everyone shenanigans.
- Lumine’s name is something she forgot as well so she gets called by nickname that feels fitting to her like Ying, Hotaru, Lulu and any name associated with light.
aether’s side
- Aether is technically the canon Traveler so most of the events happening in Mondstadt stay the same with slight changes.
- He meets Paimon the same way as the canon and immediately has the gag of calling her emergency food.
- It counts as inside joke with how Aether is the cook between him and Lumine and that Lumine actually one time stops him from trying to cook their animal companion in one world they visited.
- Instead of his memory being lost, Aether most of his powers and he really hates it because he feels weak and powerless. He feels that his body is unfamiliar at the moment.
- Because of false leads, he suspects that the Abyss has something to do with Lumine’s disappearance and the Unknown God so he’s definitely suspicious of them.
- He does hear rumor of a golden-haired girl in Liyue but he can’t leave Modstadt with their problems after how many people welcomed him.
- Aether is the responsible one between the twins even before the memory loss and separation. He’s also the older one by a minute, different birthdays, too (because of that small minute difference, Aether is born on 12/31, 11:56PM while Lumine’s on 1/1, 12:01AM).
- Aether has no sense of direction, more so than Lumine who has no memories. He manages to get lost even in straight paths so he really likes climbing up high places and just gliding his way.
- He’s surprisingly innocent about certain aspects of relationship but he’s very perceptive and knows how to read the atmosphere. He does, however, try to distance himself from people despite him getting along with them.
both’s side
- both are not capable of sleeping. lumine thinks that people sleeping is just them closing their eyes at night and it’s normal so she does just that, while aether just doesn’t want anyone to find out that he can’t sleep.
- both are capable of using multiple vision-like attacks and different weapons.
- both manage to earn the hearts of the people around them and they’re very protective of people important to them.
