(My late ass contribution to kaeyas bday FT my OC, Yuya! It didn’t turn out as well as I wanted but oh well!)

The bright pink eyes fell on the icy figure aways away from him. Yuya Matsui had been employed in the knights for about 6 months now and he had gotten quite close to Calvary Captain kaeya. Especially consider Kaeya and Diluc Ragnvindr were the first to meet him on that fateful night. Since then he had gotten to know both.

Diluc, Due to the businessman offering the winery for the the mage to live in, since Yuya had told them he wanted to stay in Mondstat anyway. And Kaeya, Due to the captain’s desire for snooping and playing around. Despite Yuya’s grumpy attitude though he cared greatly for the Ragnvindr brothers. So imagine his surprise when he heard today was kaeya’s birthday.

-an hour earlier-

“He doesn’t celebrate it?” The pink haired mage questioned his coworker, Lisa.

“No, but we all tend to make sure to leave him gifts.” She explained, putting a book on the shelf. Yuya hummed.

“It must get lonely….” He muttered. He knew the feeling, deep from his own past. Lisa looked back at her fellow mage.

“You sound like you know from experience.” She commented, putting a hand on her hip. Yuya shrugged, blushing abit.

“Kind of, I guess.” He said. He looked out the window. Lisa smiled abit.

“How about you…go take a walk?” She said, a knowing tone in her voice. The witch suspected something between the ragnvindr brothers and the odd electro mage. Honestly quite a few others did too. Yuya looked back at Lisa.

“A….walk?” He asked confused. Lisa nodded.

“Yeah! A walk. Or ya know…could ask kaeya about his birthday or something.” Yuya blushed abit.

“I–” he stammered. Lisa giggled.

“Just go silly.” She urged. Yuya grumbled.

“Fine….” He huffed. He picked up his notebook and waved goodbye to Lisa. But speak of the devil….

**Whomp!**

“Oh sorry, I wasn’t–” Yuya was trying to apologize, until he saw it was Kaeya himself that he bumped into. “Oh! Kaeya. Hey.” Yuya said running his head, embaressed abit. The Navy haired knight smirked.

“Careful there Yuyu.” Kaeya teased. Yuya huffed, his cheeks dusted as pink as his hair.

“I’d be fine if YOU had watched where you were going.” He stuck his tongue out. Kaeya grinned.

“Oh? I was the clumsy one?” Yuya rolled his eyes at kaeya’s tone. He was going to make a retort until he remembered.

“Oh, uh right, I uh…had a question.” Yuya said, looking to the side abit. Kaeya raised an eyebrow, smirking still.

“Oh? No retort back this time? How uncharacteristic of our grumpy librarian~” Kaeya chuckled. Yuya grumbled, folding his arms.

“Just let me ask, idiot.” Kaeya smiled, putting his hands up.

“Ok ok yuyu.” Yuya shook his head, blushing again. Stupid cocky asshole. Yuya thought.

“I just wanted to uh…see if you wanted lunch or…anything. Lisa…said it was your birthday. And I dunno, I uh…just heard you dont usually celebrate it. And…i know that that gets lonely…” Now THAT took the cryo swordsman off guard. Hiding his surprise, he decided to tease more.

“Oh? Are you asking me out on a date Yuya?~” He purred sassily. Yuya’s entire face got red.

“Wh–no! It’s–its not a date!” He yelled flustered. Kaeya chuckled waving a hand.

how cute. Kaeya thought to himself at yuya’s reaction. He paused abit though. He was so used to everyone giving him space and giving him some gifts in quiet. To have someone out right ask him if he wanted to celebrate together did surprise him. Then again, Yuya always tended to surprise both kaeya and diluc.

“Well…i suppose I have time to spare.” Kaeya smiled. Yuya sighed, relieved at the teasing stopping for now.

“Good. How about some good hunter on me?” Yuya offered. Kaeya hummed.

“I suppose. Though Angels share would be more fun.” Kaeya said. Yuya pouted abit.

“You just want to see if you’re brother’s tending to the bar so you can pester him.” Yuya accused. Kaeya laughed.

“Guilty as charged.” He said. “Good hunter it is then.” Yuya smiled.

“Well then uh…shall we get going?”

–current time–

They were sitting on one of the cliffs outside the city, their stomachs full of sticky honey roast. They had caused abit of a ruckus and a few laughs due to kaeya purposely pranking someone being rude to Yuya.

“Thanks again for the birthday date Yuya.” That made the mage pause. Kaeya’s tone was…odd. Yuya rubbed his cheek, trying to keep cool.

“It wasn’t a date you dork.” Kaeya laughed.

“I dunno, it kinda felt like a date~” Yuya rolled his eyes.

“Fine.” He mumbled. “Call it what you want.” Kaeya smiled. He looked up to the sky. It was quiet abit. Yuya peeked over to see that the usually sassy captain had a forlorn look on his face.

“It’s been a long while since anyone celebrated my birthday with me. I had fun.” He said. Yuya blushed more and looked away.

“Yeah well…I was like that for awhile too.” He admitted. Kaeya looked at him surprised. Yuya hid his face abit. “There…was awhile I didn’t celebrate my birthday either. Until I came here.” Kaeya laid back in the grass.

“Well…glad we could help each other.” He said, a note of content happiness in his voice. That warmed the mage’s heart. He may be a grump. But he enjoyed helping people.
