If anyone were to tell him in his sober moments how he acted when intoxicated, he would scoff in their face and deny all allegations. He, as expected, would have no idea of what his actions were as he could not recount anything once the alcohol entered his system. Diluc preferred his grape juice, it was more delicious than the bitterness of the wine, but since it was a special day of celebration he downed a few glasses. A few too many glasses it seemed. At least Charles was behind the bar tonight.

Kaeya is snickering behind his cup of Death After Noon when he notices that his dear brother is swaying slightly near the counter. Diluc looks bored as he sits to your side but he’s maintaining his quiet for the sake of his pride. Was he tipsy? Was he drunk? Either way, the pyro user is careful of the words that come out of his mouth.

You’re talking with Amber who is red in the face from her own consumption of glasses as she describes all the dispatch missions she had completed. It had only been a span of ten minutes and she recounted to you over 25 (yes you counted) missions. You listen with mild amusement while nursing your cup of grape juice. However, in the middle of her horror story with the hilichurl that wildly swung a fiery club, you feel a weight on your back that is pressing into you gradually.

Diluc had taken it upon himself to lean against you for support, becoming more unaware that the both of you were still in public. He takes your hand in his and holds it out in front of you for longer than you expected. You’re confused so you look back to see him just staring at it, flushed cheeks and a dazed look.

“Diluc?” You say with concern and you remember just how little his alcohol tolerance is. His gaze slowly moves to meet your eyes and he’s quiet. “Are you alright?” You’re humored when he nods at you, eyes returning to your lifted hands. You could see that even the tips of his ears were red and you took a few seconds to laugh internally at the sight you are granted with.

“And then all of the hilichurls had clubs! On fire no less!” Amber’s voice cuts through your thoughts. Oh, right. You didn’t know how long you planned on staying but it was clear that you both should be heading home. You place a hand on her shoulder to momentarily stop her rambling before telling her you needed to go. She perks up and waves you off while bidding you a good night. Diluc is being tugged behind you as you move around to collect your stuff, slinging his coat over his shoulder before leaving into the night.

The cool breeze is a nice contrast to the stuffy atmosphere inside the tavern. It is getting pretty late but you aren’t so sure if you can get Diluc back to the winery in time before he passes out. He looks to be on the verge of doing so and you did not want to carry him all the way there while being nearly exhausted yourself. His arms snake around your waist and you flinch but don’t move away. Luckily it’s late enough at night that the town is nearly empty, save for the stray cats and dogs. Sure your relationship was known, but these displays of affections were close to none.

But he is drunk, however, and the clinginess saved for in private is prevalent.

Diluc sighs into you as he buries his face into your neck. Now you couldn’t blame it on the nonexistent alcohol you consumed as the cause of your warming face.

This man needed a bed soon.

Since the winery is out of the question your thoughts went to the next best thing: your own place. It would be easy on you and the both of you would be getting some much needed rest in less time. Mondstadt isn’t a very large town but the trek to your front door was interesting to say the least.

Diluc was stuck to you the entire way and every time you tried to pull a hand away from his grasp he would grab it and pull it to him even tighter, quiet and low complaints coming from him. And despite you saying that you needed to move a little faster, he answered with a simple comment of “Why won’t you let me hold you?”

The amount of relief you feel when your home comes into view could not be put into words and you quickly move the both of you inside. He is aware enough to pull off his own shoes, lucky for you. You make a beeline for your bedroom afterwards and, with the remaining energy you had left, you pull away from him and push him onto your bed.

“What a handful…” you comment playfully and see that his eyes have fluttered shut. You grab his coat and drape it over a chair. Diluc is mumbling your name in his sleep and you move closer to him when it seems he’s trying to say a full sentence. You are taken by surprise when you are tugged down and held on top of him in a semi-tight grip.

You weren’t going to get out of that anytime soon.

BONUS:

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Diluc isn’t facing you as you poke fun at his actions last night, happy with the reaction you are getting out of him.

“But you were so sweet!”

“I can vouch for that statement, who knew the stoic Diluc would be so touchy with his significant other in public?” Kaeya smirks as he waltzes into your conversation.

He narrowly avoids the glove thrown at his face.
