if you, like me, like getting lost for hours in overthinking about videogame lore, here is a part from a series on genshin i’ve really been enjoying:

like, it has it all. the history of real glassblowing craft lingo tying into symbolic allusions of a character’s backstory which leads into folklore tying into classical mythos tying into a play’s story (wherein MULTIPLE characters in-game get their names from), which has multiple parallels and references to OTHER big mythos that are alluded to, goddamn chess pieces as a big design cue on possible lore but not the kind of chess you think, and it keeps going.

this creator’s videos on the possible world structure of teyvat is a fun ride too, with nice polish and editing and it really gives insight to how much effort was put into the game’s setting and the connections characters have to it.
