Zhongli Has Anxiety.
After millennia of ruling Liyue as Rex Lapis, where he was seen as an all powerful, perfect deity, as a god who could make no mistake, it started feeling like he was walking on eggshells.
He envied Mortals. Even with such short lives with no room for mistakes, they could just be passed off as Human error.
“You’re only Human” he once heard someone say. And how he wished that it could apply to him, but a god couldn’t simply claim that he was only human.
So why not become one?
Still, even as the Mortal Zhongli, he found that old habits died hard. Many found his insistence on perfection- even for the most mundane tasks -to be odd, and his ever annoying employer Hu Tao teased him about it relentlessly.
“You’re only Human, you know?”
He opened his mouth to protest, but kept silent. Hu Tao looked at him curiously, waiting for him to continue.
“You’re right.”
He was only human.
