instead of getting a whole new house, you manage to convince zhongli to move in with you instead. it’s in a village just a nice stroll away from Liyue Harbour and you grew up there so everyone is super nice and welcoming to your handsome fiancé

anyways, since you need to be quite frugal in order to save money for the wedding, the only piece of furniture you two decide to change is your bed bc it is far too small for the both of you to sleep comfortably in. however, you’re both busy with work so it takes a while to find the time to go get a new bed frame made

zhongli doesn’t say it out loud but he likes how cramped the bed is. sure, he can just sleep on the floor or find temporary lodging elsewhere but it seems like you enjoy sleeping completely pressed up against him as he does with you

he’s tall and while you’re not an especially small adult person, you’re definitely smaller than him so, logically, this means it’s his sworn duty to hug you close to keep you from falling off the bed in the middle of the night

it’s a little bit too warm but you notice the way he holds you so firmly and so carefully. with your ear pressed against his chest you can hear his human heart beat a little too fast; and suddenly every bit of uncomfortableness of a bed that’s too small disappears bc nothing is more lovely than sleeping so closely to him

after a week or so, you finally get the new bed frame and mattress. still, when you go to bed, zhongli hugs you as closely as possible, “wouldn’t want you to fall off.”
