- Forehead beaded with sweat as series of toss and turns erupts. You were uneasy as the torment of images have come to disturb your dreams once again.
- You finally awoke, heart racing and your breath was ragged. Sweat basically enveloped your entire body, the stress your nightmare brought stayed making you uneasy and be filled with anxiety.
- Taking a deep shaky breath, you rub your palms against your face as you got out of bed. You took a look at your lover peacefully sleeping before stepping out to calm down at least a bit.
- You didn’t expect the bad dream to affect you horribly for the painful thumping of your heart never eased as your cold hands begun to shake. The fear was slowly consuming you and it seemed like there was no escaping it.
- You flinched terribly when you felt a heavy hand on your shoulder, turning your once tense body relaxing as you saw Zhongli looking sleepily at you as he rubbed his eyes.
- “Are you alright?” was the first words that came out, his deep groggy voice put you in ease. You let out a heavy sigh, “Just a bad dream, nothing big.”
- “Is that so? If that’s the case then…” he said as he put an arm around your shoulders greatly surprising you with his actions. He soothing rubbed your arm as he made your head rest on his chest. It was… calming.
- Smiling a little, you close your eyes as your nuzzled your face closer to his chest feeling in the warmth he produced and the scent of coffee loomed over him.
- You placed your palm above the spot where his heart is supposed to be, you felt slow beating as his grip tightened squishing you closer.
- Suddenly, you felt warmth on your forehead only to register he’s giving you a soft kiss. It made you happy that he’s being so affectionate in attempt to comfort you. It’s working.
- “Would you care for a short Liyue history this fine morning?” he offers with an amused smile plastered on his lips. You look up as you chuckle and slightly glare at him, “Feels like deja vu. This didn’t just happened yesterday, yep definitely not.”
- “Oh come on. I can tell you the tale of me fighting Osial-” “I’m pretty sure you’re my boyfriend, not my history teacher.” “I have a good memory. I still remember that time when you embarrassed yourself-”
- You shouted as you immediately covered his mouth with your hands in panic. “Aah! For the love of God! It’s 3am, Zhongli!” you laughed.
- He chuckled as he removed the blockage from his mouth, “You finally laughed.” The realization hit immediately as your shocked face begun to turn into a soft one.
- Holding your wrist, he closed his eyes as he softly kissed your palm making slight heat travel to your face. He pulls you closer as he grins, both his hands cupping your face.
- He made his thumb caress your cheeks which sent tingles. The smile never disappeared as his amber eyes soften more than ever. “I want you to know I’m here. Don’t let your nightmare bother you. I’m here by your side, for eternity.”
- And with that he leaned in to place a soft kiss on your lips. It felt soft and comforting that it made your lips tug up into a little smile.
