Thank you all for your interest in miHoYo’s products. Recently, there have been multiple cases of unaffiliated third parties communicating with players on social media and claiming to officially represent miHoYo. To protect users’ personal information and miHoYo’s legal interests, and also respond to related recent queries from our users, we have put together some information here regarding your use of content produced by miHoYo. Thank you again for your support of miHoYo! 

1. How can I submit feedback and suggestions on miHoYo products?

miHoYo is extremely grateful towards our users for the huge amount of time and energy they put into sending us valuable suggestions for current and future products. If you have anything to say about a miHoYo product, we welcome you to contact our customer service or share your thoughts in the HoYoLAB Community.

2. Am I allowed to download miHoYo content, such as images and videos, and post them on my fansite or elsewhere under my own name?

miHoYo does not give you the right to directly repost content without acknowledging the source if we have not authorized you to do so. We would remind all users that we only permit you to share content for personal (non-commercial) reasons, and then only when you include a legal declaration, such as “"© All rights reserved by miHoYo. Other properties belong to their respective owners.”“

To clarify further, the above does NOT apply to any content produced by miHoYo that has not yet been officially published. You are not permitted to publicly share any such content, even if a legal declaration is included. Please see item 10 in this list for more on the rules regarding unpublished miHoYo content.

3. Can I create content that features miHoYo-produced images, text, or audiovisual content (collectively miHoYo content) and post it to my fansite or elsewhere?

Yes, miHoYo does not forbid this when it is for private, non-commercial usage. Additionally, you understand and accept that the rights to any miHoYo content featured in your work are not transferred to you in part or in whole (including the rights to derivative works made by you based on miHoYo content).

4. Can I register domain names or trademarks that include the name "miHoYo” or one of miHoYo’s product names (e.g. “Honkai Impact,” “Genshin Impact”), or a portion of one of these names?

miHoYo advises against this kind of naming practice, because it may easily mislead users into thinking that these third-party domain names/trademarks have an affiliation with miHoYo. Also, if your actions infringe upon miHoYo’s interests according to relevant local laws and regulations, miHoYo reserves to right to hold you legally accountable.

5. Can I put programs for updating miHoYo games on a website of my choice so others can download them?

No. To protect the security of our users’ accounts, miHoYo strictly forbids users from making update programs available on unauthorized third-party platforms. miHoYo reserves the right to terminate any and all agreements with any users who are found to be in violation of this rule at its sole discretion. miHoYo reserves the right to refuse unauthorized third-party platforms from hosting, disseminating, or distributing miHoYo product-related programs for any reason and at any time.

6. Can I translate miHoYo’s website(s) into a local language if an official translation is not currently available?

We permit reasonable reposting and quoting of our published information to the extent permitted by local law in your region, but we retain the right to hold those who publish incorrect or false information legally accountable. Also, please be aware that third-party websites like these are liable to confuse or mislead users, and that miHoYo has no way to control the quality or accuracy of translations or the veracity of content in general on these websites.

7. Can I make or sell plugins for miHoYo games?

No. To ensure the fairness of the game and the security of user accounts, miHoYo strictly forbids you from installing, using, or distributing unauthorized game plugins. miHoYo reserves the right to terminate any and all agreements with any users who are found to be in violation of this rule at its sole discretion. miHoYo reserves the right to refuse unauthorized third-party platforms from hosting, disseminating, or distributing game plugins and other programs for any reason and at any time.

8. Can I write music using music, sound, or voice samples from miHoYo products?

We have nothing but admiration for our users’ creativity and for their creative works featuring music, sounds, or voice samples from miHoYo products. However, please be aware that we only permit you to write music for strictly private, non-commercial use. You are not permitted to sell or distribute any musical works featuring music, sound, voice samples, etc. from miHoYo products for commercial ends, and your use must also comply with all relevant miHoYo user agreements for the related products.

9. Can I host my own private server?

No. Without explicit written permission from miHoYo, miHoyo does not support or permit the setup or provision of any organizations or services relating to miHoyo products or events. Furthermore, miHoYo does not permit users to emulate or redirect miHoYo products through protocol emulation, tunneling, adding or modifying game modules, or through the use of any other current or future program or technology, irrespective of whether such activity is commercial in nature.

10. Can I share content from unreleased versions of Genshin Impact that has already been leaked online?

No. miHoYo has full intellectual property rights, copyright, and other related rights to its products, including but not limited to game content. miHoYo has the right to release game content in accordance with its own standards and timeline. Furthermore, any unpublished game content found online has been leaked without authorization from miHoYo, and your actions in reposting this content proceed from the unlawful and unauthorized actions taken by another. miHoYo reserves the right to hold you legally accountable to the fullest extent permissible by law, and will not be lenient towards violators.
