Roland x Diluc [2]

Relationship Gossip Headcanons

  • Diluc is a very, very private person. As such, he’s not one to exactly announce who he favors, or who he dates, or any of it. Roland isn’t such a person, but he is uncomfortable with backlash and the idea of jealous suitors. As such, neither of them have exactly told people they’re together.
  • Since the taller man is more quiet, sometimes Roland has trouble knowing exactly what he’s thinking- his anxiety doesn’t exactly help matters. He understands his partner’s boundaries, and understands he’s not one to announce his relationship status, and as such, he keeps their relationship borderline secret.
  • As he’s the more approachable of the pair, especially determined gossipers will sometimes ask him questions about the nature of his and Diluc’s relationship- usually younger women obsessed with the who’s-with-who of Mondstadt. They don’t get much out of him, since he doesn’t trust their motives. The most they get is that he’s not looking for a relationship- a fact that is true regardless of his partner.
  • Diluc, on the other hand, isn’t intentionally secretive about the nature of their banter. He’s not a person to offer information about himself, nor does he appreciate people trying to pry into his personal life. To him, their relationship is just another fact about himself- a piece of information he keeps to himself, like most everything else.
  • He was almost comedically a bit slow to notice the gossip and bets about his and Roland’s relationship. He could dig and find such hidden information, yet he was oblivious to something right in front of him until Roland explained to him why the maids would whisper every time he showed at the winery.
  • Roland forever teases him about this fact, especially since when he realized, his cheeks flushed red and embarrassed heat emanated from him.
  • Diluc finds the gossip and betting amusing, especially with the occasion interrogations Roland experienced. He doesn’t offer information, but if someone asked him outright if something was true, he wouldn’t deny it most of the time. All the gossip and guessing was pointless, because all they had to do was ask him, but nobody did because he’s just too much an intimidating person.
  • The two agreed not to tell people unless they asked Diluc outright. Watching the town gossip was humorous, as well as a big ego boost for Roland.
  • One time, someone asked Diluc if he had a suitor. Having grown a bit impatient, he admitted yes, which drove everyone crazy once they found out.
  • Patton’s really begun to sweat.
  • Roland’s family, as well as Kaeya, are the only non-involved people who know the truth, but they were sworn to secrecy for the sake of watching the town grow mad wanting to know.

Kaeya: You know me. I’m not one to spill a secret.

  • Roland wanted to punch him. Diluc almost didn’t stop him.
  • Kaeya often uses the fact he knows the truth to tease the pair in public, though in ways subtle enough that he doesn’t reveal it to witnesses. He absolutely loves when the tavern finally closes at night, just so he could poke fun at the pair in private.
  • Roland’s family, on the other hand, was much more normal about it all. His sister, Jasmin, is less intimidated by the man knowing he’s so important to her brother, but still has no reason to spill the beans or approach the man. His mom loves the fact she has gossip that people beg her for, yet she doesn’t say.
  • They both can’t wait for the day someone finally goes up to Diluc and actually asks.
  • Roland’s got a hundred mora on it being Patton. Diluc’s got money on Charles.
