the sweet aroma the flowers surrounding them were emitting as the smell of fresh grass cut through it wafted to their nose. they stood in the middle of the garden, holding each other close, not wanting to let go as they got lost in their own worlds.

“do you promise to never leave me?”

“yes.”

the feeling of their lips brushing against his, her breath fanning his lips, the light scent of the food they last ate making his way to his nose. he loves the way their lips would mold against his perfectly as if it was made to fit each other like two puzzle pieces. they taste like hope and dreams, sweet and filled with passion.

“to love me forever until your last breath?”

“i will.”

the way their hands intertwine with each other. their hands were gentle and soft compared to his that was rough and calloused as a product of fighting for thousands of years. yet they held him like glass and flowers as if he was something vulnerable and easy to break.

“to never forget me and always keep me in your mind?”

“yes.”

their eyes that hold every emotion and feeling. he would always find himself staring at their orbs, drowning in it. the way that they would look at him and stare at him, their warm gaze always brimming with joy. it was the sort of gaze that feels like home.

amber eyes gently opened. he was greeted by the sight of the blue sky decorated with the soft clouds and the bright sun hiding behind them. the place was quiet with only the song the birds were humming along with the sound of leaves and grasses rustling being heard.

he found himself sitting in the middle of the garden alone beside a stone that has words engraved on it.

the hands that once reassured him that the world was safe and the arms that would be wrapped around him and once cradled him had withered to little more than skin and bone. the touches that they give him has now long disappeared along with the breeze that blew against him. the eyes that would look at him with a gaze so warm and filled with love as if it was trying to melt him has stayed close, never to be opened again. the soft lips that would always curve into a child-like smile making him feel things inside will never be seen again, the butterflies in his stomach dying along with them.

the wind blew once again but this time it felt warm and gentle and it felt as if someone was engulfing in a hug and comforting him.

“you’ll be fine.” he whispered to himself the last words they have told him and as ironic as it may seem, he wasn’t going to be.
