I woke out of a cold sweat, sick as hell to write this stupid dream I just had.. Just a heads up its modern day. Appearances and personality of family members are based on mine because this is how we interact and this is heavily self inserted.. but it was my dream so makes sense…. but I wanted to share it anyways so I removed name/gender use.

Reader is my height–and I’m shorter then Venti so.. sorry for taller people who can’t relate.. though very little of height is really mentioned.

Girlfriend–Boyfriend..?

“Are you sure this is okay?” Venti nervously asked.

“You’re the one that brought it up!” You shifted in the passenger seat and faced him. “If you really don’t wanna do this they’ll understand. I can say you dropped me off and you had to go somewhere. My mama and grandma will understand.”

You paused and Venti nervously swallowed. “My great grandmother on the other hand is really deaf but I’ll explain it to her. If anything she seemed more excited than anyone, but she’ll understand!”

Venti undid his seatbelt and turned the car off, fiddling with the keys. “Okay.. okay give me a minute.”

You took Venti’s hand and stroked your thumb on the back of it. An action you knew that would help calm his nerves.  It felt so weird to see him so nervous, he was always so confident and playful.

The two of you sat there for a few minutes longer, you texting your mom the two of you would be in shortly.

Once Venti calmed down the two of you got out, he held onto your hand and you tugged him along onto the porch and opened the door. “We’re here!” He shrunk behind you and watched two people stop and stare.

“About time you came in!” An elderly light haired brunette woman from the couch teased.

You ignored her jab and turned to your boyfriend. “That’s my grandma, ignore her. She’s a little shit.”

“Hey,” you snapped your fingers at a woman who looked similar to you with black hair and she set her phone down. “Nice to see you too.”

“I saw you from the window.” She waved and looked back at her phone.

You rolled your eyes and turned back to Venti. “My mother, if you talk to her make sure she’s looking at you, otherwise her ass ain’t listening.”

“I heard that.” She chimed.

“Oh? Shocker!”

Venti stood in horror at the interactions and tugged you closer to whisper. “I-I thought you said you were on good terms with your family?”

“Oh I am, this is just how we are. Less like a family, more like a group of idiots who happen to share the same blood.” You turned and glanced behind him to see another elderly brunette woman hobble into the kitchen.

“So you finally came in!” She yelled causing the two of you to flinch.

“Sorry!” You yelled back.

Venti smiled and watched you hug the elderly woman. He gave you a moment before stepping a bit closer. You pulled back and took hold of Venti’s arm before speaking.

“This is my great grandma,” you spoke and turned to the brunette. “This is Venti–my boyfriend.” You yelled.

“Ha?” She looked to your boyfriend and gave him a look over before turning back to you. “Is this your girlfriend?”

Venti’s face went red at the comment, you tried to hold back a snort and failed miserably. Your boyfriend gently slapping your arm. “Boyfriend..!” He corrected her.

Your great grandmother squinted and stared between the two of you long and hard. “You kids, whatever you say.” She waved her hands, done with the topic and hobbled over to the couch to sit by your grandmother.

Venti massaged the bridge of his nose with one hand while you buried your face into his shoulder to muffle the laughter. “Oh shush.” he mumbled. “Did you see that look? She doesn’t believe me does she?”

You shook your head and giggled taking his hand. “Probably not, having witnessed me grow up and been exposed to weird shit I’m sure she doesn’t make assumptions anymore. Even if she doesn’t understand it.”

“I’m not about to get naked in front of your family to prove it.” He grumbled. “Are you done laughing?” Venti crossed his arms with a pout and you stopped laughing long enough to coo and give him a quick peck.

“Sorry, that went better than I thought it would.” You led him over to the living room and you took the last seat while he sat on the arm rest.

Your great grandmother loudly stated your name to her daughter beside her, patting her leg for her attention. “Did you meet my great grand baby’s girlfriend?” She yelled.

Venti elbowed you before you could laugh and you struggled to keep a straight face. “Boyfriend!” You corrected her.

Your grandmother nodded and looked over at the two of you. “Boyfriend?” You nodded. “I’d stand up to hug you but I’m old.”

Venti nervously chuckled and waved his hand. “It’s okay I don’t wanna make you stand. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“That one over there on her phone is my daughter.” She scolded your mother like a child to put her phone down long enough and reluctantly the raven did.

“Hey again.”

“Again?” You glanced from her to Venti and he gave a tiny wave before looking at you.

“Yeah I chatted with her a little bit once when I was waiting for you.” He hummed.

“I was getting the mail.” Your mother added. “Of course I was going to see what strange man was hauling off my child.”

You gave a snort at her poor excuse of “getting the mail” to be nosy. “I wish you at least had told me the two of you chatted.” Internally you were grateful your mom hadn’t said anything rude by accident to make him uncomfortable, let alone possibly threaten him.

The five of you made chit chat until dinner was ready.

Since the table only seated four you opted out for a stool so Venti could sit in a proper chair. Which only started a tiny argument of how he was the guest and you wanted him to be comfortable, while he argued that guest or not he didn’t want you sitting in that uncomfortable looking stool.

He won with the help of your great grandma and grandma on his side. “You could sit on my lap.. Lil girlfriend.” You teased, watching him squirm on the stool.

“Hush.” He mumbled and kissed your cheek, surprised at your reluctance to give up the fight of seating.

When dinner was finished the two of you took care of the dishes, the elderly brunette far from quiet with her attempts at whispering.

“Look at those two, aren’t they cute? Like little tiny dolls.”

Venti cracked a smile before glancing over at you. You caught his glance and gave him a gentle hip bump before finishing up the dishes.

“You smile but those dolls were horrifying.. Her old place had so many porcelain dolls and a few like two foot fall dolls that leaned up against the wall.” You put your hands over your face in the pose they stood and he shuddered. “Yeah it’s terrifying to round the corner and see this tiny ass thing play demonic hide and seek with you.”

“My buddy has a cardboard cut out and it scared me when I first stayed over..” he admitted. “I don’t know how he does it..”

You shrugged, they didn’t scare you but they’d set you on edge if you were feeling particularly paranoid. “Well dishes are done.. Ready to go? We don’t have to wait for them since you drove us.”

Venti nodded and dried his hands off. “Let’s say bye first, I need to thank your great grandmother for letting me come and have dinner.”

“Oh please you’re the first person I’ve ever introduced to the family if anything you coming here made their day.”

He smiled at the thought of being the first boyfriend you brought to your family and with a new found confidence he made his way over to your family to give his goodbyes.

“Now you don’t be a stranger, don’t let that little shit stop you from comin over again!” Your great grandmother stood and hugged Venti something fierce you thought he’d break.

“O-of course!” He choked out.

“You two are leaving?” Your grandmother sat up a bit and reluctantly stood to hug your boyfriend. “Make sure you get my grandbaby home safe. No canoodling when we get there.” she teased.

Venti grew red and pulled back spitting out various excuses along with ‘of course not!’. He turned to the raven and your mother looked up from her phone long enough to stand, whisper something and hug him.

You finished up the hug train behind him and watched his suddenly paled self step away from your mother. You gave her a hug and collected your things before following him to the front door. The two of you gave one last goodbye before leaving for the car.

“You look sick.. Did my mom say something?” He nodded and slipped into the driver seat. “Do I need to kick her ass?” He shook his head and started the car.

You didn’t press and Venti was glad for it, he didn’t really want to admit how he was suddenly terrified of making a fuck up, and absolutely terrified of your mom.
