summary: you start to question your relationship when you start comparing yourself to others

so this was supposed to have more characters but i got really carried away and what were supposed to be just short little drabbles ended up being whole one shots, whoops. but i love writing this type of stuff so please request any more characters you’d like for this prompt :)

Itto

• even before you two were officially together, itto has always made you incredibly happy, i mean he’s literally your own personal hype man
• he might not be the most romantic boyfriend ever, but he sure does make you feel loved
• he always talks extremely passionately about things, including you
• however that’s also where the problem arises because there’s times when all he talks about is kujou sara and wanting to fight her
• it was fine at first but the more it happened the more it made you think
• while you were sure itto loved you, you also knew you couldn’t compare to sara. she’s strong, smart, and a good leader. why wouldn’t itto want her more than you?
• but then one day he missed one of your dates and your mind went wild

You try to do anything to keep your mind busy but it’s impossible when you’re home alone instead of out with Itto. You can’t help but wonder where he is or more accurately who he’s with. It’s not like this is the first time this has happened, Itto is the leader of the Arataki gang and has a knack for getting himself arrested, but this time feels different. Lately all he talks about is his need for a rematch with the tengu.

You finally give into your thoughts as you look into the mirror. Looking at yourself, you can’t help but compare yourself to Kujou Sara. While Itto says he just wants a rematch with her, what if there’s more to it? As your thoughts start to race through your mind you can’t stop the tears collecting in your eyes. Before you know it you’re fully crying, wondering if this is the end of your relationship.

“Baby are you here?” Itto yells out as he frantically opens the door to your house. “I’m so sorry I missed our date. I was out with the boys and we got caught up in this game with some kids and before I knew it it was already night.”

Itto goes straight to your bedroom when he doesn’t see you, thinking maybe you’ve already gone to bed. But when he opens the door to see you crying on your bed his heart drops.

“(y/n), baby, I’m so sorry. I promise will make it up to you. I will even buy you some food! Anything you want, please just don’t be sad,” Itto says as he sits next to you and wraps his arms around you. He tries his best to cover the panic in his voice, not wanting you to see him afraid, but seeing you like this because of him breaks his heart.

You quickly bury your head into his chest, letting him tighten his hold on you. For a long time there’s silence as you quietly cry in his arms, leaving Itto without words for the first time ever. When you have finally cried all your tears you move slightly so you can look up at him.

“Itto, do you still love me?” You ask meekly as you try to keep your breaths steady.

“What?” Itto asks, utterly confused by this sudden question. “What do you mean?”

“ Well, you’re alway talking about Kujou Sara and that’s probably who you were with today so I get it if you want her instead. I just need to know now,” you say quietly, avoiding looking him in the eyes.

“Wait, you thought I was with the tengu? Babe I was just out with the boys! And even if I was with her, she doesn’t even come close to you,” he says. “I only talk about her because she had the nerve to steal MY vision. But trust me, I talk about you way more, if you don’t believe me you can go ask the boys, they know.”

“So you still love me?” you ask louder this time. You finally look into his eyes and he softens even more at the sight of your tear stained eyes.

“Of course I do! You’re mine and there’s no getting rid of me. Trust me, Granny Oni is already bothering me about when I’m going to ask you to marry me and I can’t let her down now,” Itto says as he pulls you close to him again. You can’t help but become flustered at the prospect of marriage, never having brought up the subject with him before.

“You’re ridiculous,” you say before leaning in and kissing him. The kiss doesn’t last for long but it’s so full of love that it worth every second.

“Does that mean you’re not mad at me?” he says as he gives you puppy dog eyes. You can’t help but laugh at the fact that this big, strong oni can be such a baby at times.

“Of course not, you know I can’t stay mad at you for too long,” you say as you kiss his cheek. “However, you’ll need to cuddle with me all night to make it up to me.”

“Deal!” He yells as he grabs you into his arms and lays down with you. You snuggle in even closer to him as you feel your negative thoughts leave your mind at last.

Diluc

• during your whole relationship, diluc has been nothing but the perfect gentleman to you
• however he has never been the best at showing you how he feels about you, whether its through words or actions
• you understand that he has a hard time with his feelings and know the small things mean a lot with him, but it’s hard when he sometimes treats you like everyone else
• so when he starts investigating something with jean you can’t help but compare the way he acts with you two
• jean and diluc have always been close and even with diluc’s distrust in the knights, he still has a lot of respect towards jean. the two of them are also two of the most respected people in all of mondstadt, it would just make sense for them to be together
• you try not to have hard feelings towards jean, she’s an amazing person who has given her life to protecting mondstadt, but when you see the two of them together you can’t stop the way your heart clenches in your chest

It’s been a long day of working and you are undoubtedly tired, all you want right now is to spend time with Diluc. Since you’re still in the city you decide to check if he’s in Angels Share before heading over to the winery.

“Hey Charles,” you say as you arrive at the tavern. “Is Diluc here?”

“He’s upstairs, I think he mentioned he was meeting someone,” Charles says as he cleans the bar.

“Well hopefully he won’t mind if I join in,” you say as you wave Charles goodbye. You quickly head upstairs, excited to finally see your love. But you freeze when you see him actually smiling. At first you take in the sight, simply appreciating it due to how rare it is. But then you wonder what made him smile like that. Then you notice who he is with, the acting grand master.

Before you realize it you’ve already walked out of the tavern. You bite your lip as you try to keep away your panicked thoughts. Why is he with Jean? Diluc doesn’t like the knights so it can’t be work related. And why was he smiling like that? You quickly leave the city limits to go sit beside Cider lake.

When you sit down on the side of the docks you finally let the tears that you’ve been holding back flow. You can’t stop thinking about how someone as amazing as Diluc deserves someone better than you, someone like Jean.

“(y/n)? What are you doing here?” a familiar voice asks as you feel someone sit beside you. There’s no doubt on who it is, you don’t have to look to know that.

“Shouldn’t you be with Jean?” You ask him as you try and hide the shakiness of your voice.

“Well I saw you inside and I was about to invite you over when you suddenly left in a hurry. I wanted to see what was going on,” Diluc says.

“Well nothing is going on. Just go back to her,” you snap at him, just wanting to be left alone.

“(y/n) what’s wrong?” He asks, voice suddenly becoming stern. You finally look at him, surprised at the sudden change in his tone. When you meet his eyes you notice they way his brow furrows in worry and you sigh.

“It’s just that seeing you and Jean like that set off something in me,” you say quietly, suddenly realizing how petty you sound.

“What do you mean?” Diluc asks, genuine confusion lacing his voice.

“Well, you and Jean just make sense together. You two are like the most loved people in all of Mondstadt. And, well, you deserve someone better than me, someone like her,” you explain as you look back out at the lake, not wanting him to see the tears pooling up in your eyes.

“I was just meeting with Jean because she wanted to let me know she plans on stationing more knights along the delivery paths due to a heightened hilichurl presence. There’s nothing you need to worry about,” he says.

“Then why were you smiling like that? I know such business related manners don’t make you react like that,” you ask as you look at him again with tears streaming down your face. Diluc seems surprised by this question but quickly gets a small smile on his face.

“Jean had just asked me how you were doing and commented on how happy I seem with you,” he says as he gently puts his hand over yours. Your face heats up at the realization that you’ve made such a big deal over nothing.

“I’m sorry,” you say as you move to hide your face in his neck. He strokes your hair for awhile letting you calm down a bit before speaking again.

“How long have you been feeling this way?” he finally asks softly.

“I don’t know, I guess part of me has always wondered why you picked me when you could basically have anyone in Mondstadt,” you tell him as you stay leaning on his shoulder.

“Well you’re the only one I want,” he says bluntly, causing you to look up at him in shock. He smiles slightly as he sees the reaction he got out of you. He plants a soft kiss on his forehead before standing up and holding his hand out to you.

“Come on, let’s head to the winery, it’s getting late,” he says as you take his hand and he helps you up. With a quick squeeze to your hand he begins off on the trail back home.
