yokai don’t really die in a traditional sense (according to folklore) and when they’re exorcised their form is removed but they’re mostly still there. so an alternative way to that since inazuma treats yokai like an actual separate race (afaik ) ,,, maybe they turn into plants and other greens when they die .

itto passes first, turning into a large and wild cherry blossom tree always in full bloom, roots overgrown and portruding in the ground with some long vines hanging over.

sara visits it every spring, where it would shine the most, and where she would see the mountain where they first clashed and were doomed to be fated.

when its sara’s time, she is bloody, wound on her stomach, severe and deep. she is breathing hard and holding the guts spilling out her body.

and instead of going to a doctor, she goes to his tree.

limping towards the large thing, shadows looking over her with small bits of sunlight carved by the petals that ever so slightly swayed to the wind.

she leans back on the trunk trying to catch her breath but at this point, she knows that she will no longer be here soon.

872 years.

and 784 without him.

but now, she’s here, by his side. although he cannot talk to her, she lays her hand on one of the roots and it feels just like when he’d have his hand in hers and held her oh so gently.

the view was beautiful.

it was morning, the sun shone bright and inazuma’s natural palette of light pinks and purple looked heavenly.

she sighs one last time, turning her head and closing her eyes.

and violets started blooming, woven into pretty patterns among the soil.
