Headcanon Mix #5

All about names pretty much.

  • Thoma’s full name is probably “Thomas” or even “Thomason”. When he was introduced to Ayaka and her family misheard his name “Thomason” as “Thoma-san” so they think is name is actually “Thoma”. Thoma thought it was a nickname for the longest time and was very happy because he felt so out of place in Inazuma so he thought this was their way of welcoming him and making him feel more at home. It took years for Ayaka to realize his name wasn’t actually “Thoma” but actually “Thomason” but by then it was so familiar and deeply ingrained in her and most everyone’s hearts they just kept it to themselves though they still feel embarrassed.
  • When Diluc was younger he used to call Kaeya, “Kae” and Kaeya called Diluc “Luc”. They called each other by those nicknames for the longest time until Crepus died and Kaeya revealed the truth about himself. Their relationship while still strained is getting better and they often correct themselves when they call the other by their nickname.
  • Sucrose’s parents are chemists who wanted their daughter to grow up sweet but love science and other studies just as much as they do so they named her “Sucrose”. Also because they wanted to follow the name trend their family had going on with her mother’s name being “Maltose”, her father being “Glucose”, her older sister “Fructose” and her older brother “Dextrose”.
  • Barbara sometimes calls Jean by her nickname “Jeanie” when she refers to her but she tries hard not too because she thinks it’s not good to refer to the Acting Grand Master that way so she tries to refer to her by her name or by just “my sister”. Jean sort of misses being called “Jeanie” but she let’s Barbara do as she likes.
