Something Chongyun and Xingqiu have in common is their work ethic and how they will let their work speak for themselves rather than being boastful. I like to headcanon that they’re each other’s biggest cheerleader and they would defend each other when someone questions their abilities.

In a modern AU, Xingqiu is the project manager for his family’s consulting businesses. Chongyun is his assistant (as well as his secret bodyguard). Xingqiu can manage most of the work himself so he usually sends Chongyun on quests to get coffee but he describes the drink in the most flowery/confusing way as a joke. Chongyun already knows what Xingqiu would like though.

Chongyun is in the break room making coffee and he overhears a few people claiming that “Xingqiu doesn’t take his work seriously and he only got the job because of his father.” He corrects them that he works directly with Xingqiu and he has seen how he works harder than anyone else.
