You’re Past Life & How You Met Baal

• While Inazuma exists today as a united nation which enjoys a relatively peaceful existence, it was a very different story many centuries ago. It was an age of near constant warfare. The many clans which resided on the various islands each sought to obtain sole dominion over the ancient land; with many of the more older and larger clans being aided by powerful spirits.
• You’re clan however was born to fulfill a different objective. You began your life as a simple peasant turned solider. While at first you were loyal to your village’s ruling lord, you quickly discovered their greed and folly as the sight of burnt fields and broken families became increasingly more common.
• And so, you decided to leave their service and strikeout on your own. After you realized that the lords of the other clans were just as arrogant, you came to a decision. Enough was enough. While you had no desire to lead yourself, you knew that if your home was to ever know peace again, then Inazuma needed a ruler who truly cared about its people. Over time others joined your cause, and eventually your small band of allies grew into an army which could rival even the oldest of clans. And as your number of victories continued to mount, your clan was soon graced by the presence of Baal.
• In many ways Baal was your complete opposite. If you were seen as humble, then Baal was viewed as arrogant. While your words were used to united your allies, Baal used hers to decimate her enemies. But in many other ways, the two of you brought out the best in one another and help each other grow as individuals. As she grew your confidence, you nurtured her kindness. In time, Baal became a protector, one who was adored by her people and she in turn returned that adoration.
• With you as the clan’s head, and her as the clan’s appointed spirit, it was natural for the two of you to eventually fall in love. The two of you would have even ruled together had you not been betrayed on the eve of united Inazuma.
• Your death at the hand of vision holders angered Baal like no other before or since. As your body grew cold in her arms, she came to the understanding that mortals were far too arrogant to deserve such power. You sought to united Inazuma under a banner of peace and this was how you were to be rewarded by its people? No. This would not be how your dream would end. She will fulfill the wish you fought so hard to achieve, and would create a nation in which no one else would ever die such a needless death for the rest of eternity.

You & Baal Meet Once Again

• Baal learns that you have reincarnated when you saved your friend from having their vision stolen by the Raiden Shogun. As Baal was about to bring down her blade, you used your vision to distract her just long enough to free your friend from their bindings and get them their vision back.
• Seeing you face again makes Baal feel a pain she hadn’t felt in centuries. You had spent your most of previous life fighting tyrants, and now you live again only this time to fight her.
• Although she appears as neutral and unflinching as ever, it hurts her to see your face again after all this time. It hurts seeing your eyes so full of life & determination but with anger directed solely at her. It hurts seeing you raise your blade/bow/polearm at her when it once fought by her side. But what hurts most of all is that there is no hint of recognition in your eyes. You don’t remember her at all or the love that the two of you had once shared.
• Baal could have easily stopped the two of you from escaping, but… she doesn’t, she can’t. For all the things she is capable of doing, raising her blade to strike you down isn’t something she is capable of doing when the memory of your lifeless body in her arms keeps flashes before her eyes.
• The two of you had joined forces and fallen in love in one lifetime, what’s to say you couldn’t do so again in this one. Baal is a very driven and patient ruler. Now that she knows you live once more, she will stop at nothing to get you back.

Since Inazuma’s story hasn’t been fully released yet, this is different from my other headcanons as it isn’t backed by any in-game lore and is probably a lot more self-indulgent then what most of my followers are used to reading from me. That being said, I hope you still all enjoy!
