Chapter 2: Of Siblings and Its Rivalry

On the last chapter…..

“Guess it’s high time I called in a huge favor,” muttered Lady Dimitrescu with a very calm front. Yes, she thought to herself it is time for a more humanistic approach to this interesting ordeal.

And so we continue forward….

Night blended into day like fresh oil paint on a canvas. Everything the Lady of castle had deeply cherished was missing from her vault in the blink of an eye and now faced with a dilemma for what felt like a millennium, the choice to seek a proper humane route came into retrograde.

Finding a suitable human wasn’t as hard as many thought for the lady of the castle, some were incredible with their methods of investigation, others exceeded lady dimitrescu expectations. Yes, after a few hours of staying awake passed the witching hour she found her perfect human solution.

A mortal of the most notorious gang in the Romanian area had come into her sharp view and a woman no less. The Devils as she knew the gang to be called. Fierce, deadly, silver-tongued and ever so crafty the gang thrived with their both private and public affairs, especially their relationship with the current reigning leader.

Yes, This leader would be the one to help with this case after all the current reigning leader’s family had once been good friends to the proud Dimitrescu family and had offered a favor in turn should their service be required for all Dimitrescu had done for them.

“Ahh, a worthy mortal to help me and how interesting that this leader bears the Latin name for the sun,” curiosity intertwined Lady Dimitrescu’s voice as she held the file of the family name and business. Oh what a wonderful woman this leader must be. Young and fiery as her name suggested but silver-tongued and deadly as the crime world implored.

“Oh what will I make of you dear Solis? Will you show me how fiery and deadly you are once you are let loose?” Questionably Lady Dimitrescu inquired. What an incredible woman this leader must be and how deadly could she be? A small blush had appeared across the lady’s face, oh yes the lady had wondered just how deadly she was. In more ways than one.

Before any other incredible thought came to the lady’s mind a howl had pierced the cold air. Like clockwork a distraction from Lady Dimitrescu mortal research and final selection had come into view. At a terrible time nonetheless. Now the antics of a werewolf for a brother had mingled within the lady’s mind.

“Oh sweet dark lord please I can’t witness another broken chandelier please I can’t!” Lady Dimitrescu exclaimed with a worried look. Chandeliers were one of the crowning jewels of her ancestral castle. Pure gold with the most incredible crystals plus the most incredible scented candles. Priceless beauties paired with the antics of a idiotic werewolf brother and bloodlusting vampiric daughter, never ended well especially if alcohol was involved. All the locks the lady of the high castle had placed on the drawing room and the wine cellar were no match for both her idiot brother and chaotic daughter now it seems that the entertainment for tonight would have to be changed.

“Whatever will I do with those two? Heisenberg is my brother and personally I do have a right to kill him and bring him back to life whenever but my darling Daniela–ugh this will become a mess the moment my idiot brother steps through my castle doors,” with a gentle rub to her temple Lady Dimitrescu rose to greet or to be more exact babysit a moronic werewolf.

After pacing her corridors and giving a silent prayer to her dark deity, Lady Dimitrescu made her way to her castle’s main entrance. With a sigh and a heavy mind the massive wooden opened with the familiar presence of a large black wolf with golden eyes. After a moment of enduring the changing spring wind the wolf stepped forward with a mischievous gleam in its eyes to the open doors and cautious owner. As if on cue both werewolf and vampire held a steady gaze as if to welcome each other but to also assess if one was injured. After a brief moment of review, the once huge black wolf changed into a man and if to poured salt on a wound he spoke.

“My dearest older sister, why so gloom it’s not everyday that I make a grand appearance in this castle? Oh you are still recovering from the passing of that one chandelier? Plea–” with a swift grab to the throat the lady had silenced the wolfman.

“Do not test me Heisenberg let’s not forget who inherited this castle and the riches of the past but also helped you stay afloat with your genetic lycan experiments? Oh how about the time I helped you stay alive and not let you sleep in the literal dog house as you almost bleed out from a failed experiment?!” the lady exclaimed.

“I yield! I yield! Please Sister I yield okay, I shouldn’t have brought up the chandelier that was my fault and no amount of apologizes to you can justify what that poor chandelier suffered—” the barbaric wolfman cried out.

“Drop your mockery Heisenberg unless you have another death wish to meet my claws and see another grave!” Lady Dimitrescu yelled. Salt on a wound indeed to the lady’s annoyance. With a low growl and a small glint of her fangs, Heisenberg had ceased his antics with a small laugh and a smile. Like any other siblings small squabbles and fights were common but for both Lady Alcina Dimitrescu and Lord Heisenberg this troubled yet comedic bond was all they had known from childhood to their immortal adulthood.

Both high lady and lord were siblings and under the careful gaze of Mother Miranda they were as close as anyone could be given the circumstances of their lineage. While the lady and lord’s biological family had been around, it was Mother Miranda and her dark ways that kept them both together and cared for during the mortal ages. Mother Miranda did however encourage the two fairly early to embrace the darkness of their bloodline through some rivalry and teachings.

Before doing anymore squabbles and remembering the pre-golden era of house Dimitrescu and house Heisenberg, the lady laughed and lowered the moronic wolfman to his feet. Indeed they were as opposite as can be yet they were always there for each other in the most difficult of times, this was no expectation to the rule. “Welcome home you mangy beast of a brother and your nieces await you in the common room,” Lady Dimitrescu said with a smile.

“It’s good to be home with my dearest vampiric sister who doesn’t know her own strength, I take it my favorite liquor is still around and how are the girls might I ask?” lord Heisenberg questioned.

With a whole hearted laugh the lady straightened herself to appear regal as ever compared to her more…wild sibling. Indeed both wild in their own ways and royal in blood, lady and lord knew what family meant.

“My My is that jealousy I sense within thee’s voice heisen? Yes it does, aged brandy always flows for you and the girls are well, probably feasting upon some blood and organs but soon that attention will be turned to you as they have missed you,” Lady Dimitrescu replied. The castle once cold and dry began to flow with warm laughter of two dark siblings and soon the buzzing of insects. Yes, castle dimitrescu had known a rough time but soon began to lift itself to a more prosperous era. Like clockwork the once happy and laughing lady stood behind her small family as her brother, lord Heisenberg and the lady’s daughter and watched as all she held dear enjoyed themselves.

Into the dark night the hours went and so did the thought of Lady Dimitrescu stolen goods, upon sipping her blood laced wine a silence had fallen and as she gazed her daughters and brother had a gleam of mischief in their golden eyes. Like a good host she inquired about what mischief could hold the small families attention and more importantly how it involved her.

Within thirty minutes both daughters and brother had teamed up against Alcina to test both strength and her abilities to find them. It was a game of vampiric hide and seek the lady enjoyed playing with her family regardless if both Daniela and Heisenberg claimed that she cheated. Lady Dimitrescu never had to cheat in order to find them; it was always too easy since both were rambunctious to stay in one spot.

The first to be found within the lady’s time was her oldest daughter, Emmylou, her dark brunette somewhat ginger daughter and the first to be transformed into what modern people called the vampire. Holding her mothers playful gaze she went to quickly hug her and told her that a wager was made to see if she could catch Daniela and heisenberg at the same time. As the oldest and most attached to their mother, Emmylou, using first her intuition and then common sense sided with Alcina. It wasn’t a surprise that she would after all the girls all knew who would win regardless of what Daniela thought up.

Before parting ways with her oldest, Lady Dimitrescu had instructed her oldest daughter to prepare both a room and a carrier raven for a special guest who will soon make their way to us. With that, Emmylou had vanished into thousands of inspects and like the daughter she was following her mothers instructions to the T.

Not long after finding her oldest daughter, the lady of the castle had found her youngest, Valentina in her shapeshifting form of bats. With a smile, Lady dimitrescu held her youngest in the palms of her hands as Valentina’s bat form resembled that of a mouse eared bat and praised her for her ever evolving form of techniques. Her youngest and raven haired, Valentina was the last to be transformed and was loved dearly by her sisters and mother alike.

Having been caught in the moment of being in her bat form and held in the palm of her mothers hands, Valentina had squealed with joy when her mother praised her and also covered her face with her wings as if to say she was overwhelmed with such praise and affection. While both mother and daughter had a moment of bonding the lady had gently let her daughter fly away before seeking her blond daughter Daniela and Heisenberg.

First place to look for either underworldly tornados was the drawing room where the brandy always followed. While brandy wasn’t the lady personal favorite, she did consider the favorites of her brother and daughters. Lady Dimitrescu had always taken note of what her small chaotic family enjoyed where it was aged liquors, blood types or a simple area where everyone could come together. Her family had always come first.

The second place to search for her daughter and brother was her personal chambers as they both had a habit of going there to catch her with her ever so finely aged wine. Upon drawing a blank expression from not finding them in her chambers she heard her daughter’s voice pierce through the castle cold air in the next two rooms away.

“Ya’know uncle you really oughta let me help you tame such glutton beasties you call subjects,” Daniela had said with a mischievous glare and a glass of bloody brandy.

“OH my subjects are gluttons?! Daniela sweet darkling of mine you are the very definition of a glutton and as for taming nope can’t do that I will go extinct before they are perfected!” Heisenberg exclaimed.

“Oh please uncle as if they would go extinct and you take that back! I haven’t feast upon one in so long uncle, surely you could spare one for little old me?” Daniela laughed aloud.

Before the conversation could get even more interesting a pair of strong hands had gripped both brother and daughter together. With a small scream of fear from daughter plus brother and a whole hearted laughter from the tall vampiric lady the last two had been caught before creating a massive storm of chaos within the castle. Yes, this is what the lady had devoted herself to protecting not just her fierce reputation but her family and moments like these were what made her undead heart swell with joy and pride. Before another bundle of laughter had risen from the lady, her other two daughters had joined in with tackling the small group into the ground.

“Now what was that about the wager you both made?” The lady said with a grand smile on her gorgeous face. Before responding both Daniela and Heisenberg had curled beside the ladies side to stay comfy.

“It’s nothing serious,” both Heisenberg and Daniela said in unison. Indeed it wasn’t as serious as the happiness the small strange family felt in the moment.

“Indeed it isn’t important compared to the joy I feel with you sister, how I’ve missed the moments and company of you Alci,” the werewolf voiced as the three daughter curled towards their mother and uncle.

Indeed the moment had been incredible and sweet. As the small family curled towards the matriarch of the Dimitrescu and rested upon the joys of staying together, the lady thought about how blessed she had been. Now as day crept into view sleep had claimed the castle residence but two vengeful humans.
