As a casual weekend surfer, I have fear of overhead waves and depth where my feet can’t touch the ocean floor.

One day, I traveled an hour where I surf only to realize that the waves were overhead. I had no plans to surf, just thinking about going to those waves made my heart pound & hands sweat. But my coach was there and insisted I ride just once so my journey won’t go to waste. He got a smaller surf board (smaller than I’m used to, I usually surf with longboards) and assured me it will be safe & I can do it. Though my heart pounded like crazy, I took the board & we headed to the lineup. Riding that one overhead wave was a ride I will never forget.



This quote was inspired by that experience. It’s really not about being fearless but not letting fear win - in whatever aspect of our life that needs it.
