Just had a story idea ill never probably get to but here we are:

You are the combination backup automated pilot, navigation system, and computer core of a starship that has been exploring an uncharted nebula for two months. Your systems are new and your little crew is as well, but you are proud of what they do even if they do not know how to communicate with your processors.

So far all has been going smoothly and the little people that inhabit your starship seem to be pleased with their discoveries.

But then suddenly things change and you can feel something breaching your hull. There are not supposed to be lifeforms in this nebula.

Slowly you feel yourself being sabotaged and you know these creatures mean harm to your smart crew. You know your metal body was not designed to warship specs, but there must be something you can do to protect them.

So you improvise.

[ Basically I was thinking how weird it would be if the ship in among us was sentient and could feel what was happening to the crew. ]
