I enjoy the concept that in their native environment impostors actually aren’t hypercarnivores so much as large mesocarnivores - more like bears than tigers - meaning that they do need meat to make up more than half of their diet but can and do also eat plant and fungal matter and, in a technological society, whatever random edible crap people make out of rendering all three into their base components and recombining them like imitation meat cheeseburgers and protein shakes and Twinkies. So if you got a peaceful impostor who wasn’t eating your crew they’d have the approximate diet of Ron Swanson.
